Snow Game

If this wasn’t an article, I would put Myles Garrett and Nick Chubb and leave it at that, but this is an article, and there are a lot of players who deserve a shout out. Yesterday, in a snow-filled stadium, the Browns beat the Steelers 24-19.

Myles Garrett had an amazing first half, posting three sacks and a forced fumble. Nick Chubb had an overall great game with 20 carries, 60 total yards, and two rushing touchdowns. The offensive line, led by Jack Conklin, was amazing, holding TJ Watt to almost nothing. Jerry Jeudy had another good game with six receptions for 85 yards. There are a few others that should be added, but none more than Jameis Winston. Winston didn’t have a pretty game, but he helped bring home the win. His rushing touchdown and fight kept Cleveland in the game just long enough for the defense to hold on for one last possession.

The Steelers had a solid game, until the Dawg Pound took over. It really wouldn’t seem like having home field advantage would help, when both teams have played in snow before, but this was different. With almost 67,500 people at the game, snow coming down, loud Cleveland fans, and a late night game, it would be hard for most teams to beat Cleveland in that situation. This is not a discredit to Pittsburgh. Most of their players played well given the outcome, and outside of his fumble, Russell Wilson was really good, with only seven incompletions. His passing touchdown and 270 yards weren’t enough. With pressure at a constant, and a vision much like a shaken snow globe, Russell did what he could.

Not only did the Browns need this win, Cleveland needed it just as much. With a struggling team this year, Browns fans couldn’t be happier than to beat their rival in a prime time game. Although Cleveland only moved to 3-8 on the year, the rest of the season will be a major challenge. Playoff hopes? Not a chance, but there is still one thing Cleveland can do. Ruin the season of AFC North opponents. With games against the Bengals, Steelers, and Ravens still remaining, playing the role of the Grinch may be an achievable goal.
