After desperately needing a true number one receiver over the past few seasons, the New England Patriots have finally gotten their guy. The Patriots have signed Stefon Diggs to a three year deal worth up to $69 million.
Diggs is no stranger to the AFC East as he spent four seasons from 2020-2023 with the Buffalo Bills. He was also selected to the Pro Bowl in each of those four seasons. In 2020 he was named an All-Pro after a career high 127 receptions and 1535 yards.
New England will be the fourth team for Stefon Diggs in his 10 year career which started in 2015 with the Minnesota Vikings. He is currently recovering from a torn ACL which cut his only season with the Houston Texans short. 10 years into his career, Diggs has 857 receptions for 10,491 yards and 70 touchdowns. His veteran presence will surely make an impact on the Patriots’ young wide receiver room.
This signing will also take some of the pressure off of young quarterback Drake Maye, who is going into his second season in the NFL. Maye already showed a ton of promise with a very young Patriots’ receiver room so he should really flourish with one of football’s top wide receivers.
