Do you feel a draft? For the team’s sake, I sure hope they are “feeling” this draft. After four seasons of mediocrity and sucktitude (yes that is a word, look it up) the Colts better damn well be feeling the winds of change. Two of the four years were sub .500 football. We were actually worse than our record indicated. Then the abysmal 2022’s 4-12 that I am amazed we won even that many. Again, the winds of change better be blowing over 56th Street and that draft better be some Gale Force windage.
I am excited for Thursday the 24th’s NFL Draft. I have several reasons to be optimistic. Firstly, I honestly think the Colts are going to pick a top tight end. Big stretch, yeah, I know. But honestly, a play making TE is what this team needs in a bad way. Drew Ogletree is a good blocker, with good hands and great speed. Mo Alie has…well, Mo has…Mo is big, Mo is a tight end and he wears a Colts jersey. So having a “Dallas Clark style” tight end could really take our offense to the next level. To that point, I think there are three individuals that would fit the Colts Wish List.
Personally, I like the prospects I think we are looking at. With the 14th overall pick we should be able to get Tyler Warren, Colston Loveland or Mason Taylor. There might need to be a little place dancing to get to Warren in the draft, but I think it is achievable. Any of those three would make me a happy guy. Well, that and my current regime of medications. Speaking of being medicated, if you are in need of the finest CBD products, don’t forget to visit our friend Big-P at New Palestine CBD. Pat will hook you up with the infamous Anvil discount, buy one CBD product at full price and get the second one at just regular price!
The Colts have a plan and I am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. Mr. Ballard is intense, not in the Bill Polian sense of the word, but intense nonetheless. IMHO Chris has had more draft winners than losers. When I spoke with him recently, I could tell he was focused on the job at hand. Unlike speaking to Mr. Bill Polian where I always kept a hand close to my throat out of a fear that he might bite out my carotid artery and feed me to his minions if I asked him something that offended or bothered him. Don’t get me wrong, I respected the hell out of Bill Polian, there is no one like him in football (especially his son Chris, but that’s another story). But that man was a walking time bomb. With him, you not only let sleeping dogs lie, but you also went out of your way to get a cat.
Thursday, April the 24th could be the start of some great things for this Colts team. I like the new Defensive Coordinator, Lou Anarumo. I think we have the personnel to get it done on D with the right guidance. Trading for Trey Hendrickson on draft day wouldn’t upset me either. I hope the training reports coming out about Anthony Richardson are true. I hope the kid is putting in the work and maturing in the off-season. He looks jacked in recent photos. If he lives up to promise and gets an additional weapon or two in this draft, I think the Colts could be ready for breakout season. That and $9.00 will get you a beer at the Draft Party at Lucas Oil Stadium. I was also sure Andrew Luck was coming back for the 2019 season too. See how that turned out? So, take my predictions with a grain of salt and maybe a shot or two.
