Dear Santa,
I’ve been a good Habs fan this year—(somewhat) patient, hopeful, and only moderately critical on social media. I have even decided to participate less on Twitter and create an account on Bluesky social! As Christmas approaches, here’s my humble wish list for the team we all adore:
- An experienced assistant coach
Santa, Martin St-Louis is great, but he could use a Yoda-like assistant—maybe a veteran with head coaching experience. A bench buddy to drop pearls of wisdom (and maybe yell at refs). - Mathieu Olivier
No explanation needed. Just wrap him up with a bow, please. - A veteran right-handed defenseman
Ideally, someone who can hold down the fort for a couple of years until Logan Mailloux and David Reinbacher are ready to take over. Bonus points if he can lay a good hip check alongside Kaiden Guhle. - A 1A goaltender
Carey Price’s ghost still haunts us. We need a solid starter for the next few years—someone to bridge the gap until Jacob Fowler or Jakub Dobes dons the pads with impact in the NHL. Bonus if he controls his rebounds. - A top-6 centerman
If Kirby Dach doesn’t find his groove soon, a left-handed faceoff wizard for the top six would be lovely. Think of it as a little insurance policy, sort of what Sean Monahan did. - Ivan Demidov’s freedom
Santa, is there a clause in your contract that covers international diplomatic negotiations? We need someone to liberate Ivan Demidov from SKA St. Petersburg. We’ll leave extra cookies for this one.
Thanks, Santa. I’ll be watching the game with a mug of hot chocolate and a plate of poutine on Christmas Eve. Go Habs Go!
Sincerely,
[Your Typical Diehard Fan]
