The Browns thankfully have a bye week coming up, which means a break from the emotional roller coaster. However, this also gives an extra week to the players, who may need it a little more. Cleveland’s season has been in jeopardy from the start of the season, with the offensive line hurt, Nick Chubb out, and the uncertainty with Deshaun Watson.
The Browns offense is currently ranked 31st in the NFL, only ahead of New England. The defense is ranked in the middle of the pack at 15th. To be able to beat teams, a balanced mix of offense and defense is needed. So why are the Ravens so good, yet their defense gives up 368 yards a game? It’s because of two factors. The first is their offense, producing an historic 440 yards per game. The second reason: Lamar Jackson, a danger to all defenses. With that said, the Browns will need to start another QB search during the off-season.
Cleveland has the right pieces on defense, at least for the most part. Myles Garrett needs a new Robin, while Denzel Ward’s career may be in jeopardy after sustaining another concussion. The puzzle is almost complete, but Andrew Berry will have to dig deep into his bag to pull something out for next season.
With the bye week ahead, the Cleveland Browns will have a lot to figure out. The game plan should be to feed star players: Jerry Jeudy, Nick Chubb, Cedrick Tillman, and David Njoku. The Saints rank 28th in defense, giving up 240 yards per game through the air, and 136.6 yards on the ground. Both are well above what the Browns average. With the Saints facing the Falcons on Sunday, the Browns can watch film on more of the Saints’ weaknesses.
